Jason Busch—Managing Director

Jason Busch is passionate about how companies, governments and individuals manage, spend and save money. While his forte is writing and speaking about procurement, politics and economic issues, Jason has significant firsthand experience developing and marketing technology, services and content products. Throughout his career, he’s also helped hundreds of companies save money through strategic sourcing and related initiatives including finding the right technologies to kick their organizations into overdrive.

Jason's main focus at the moment is building Spend Matters into the number one procurement and supply chain resource in the world, making it both invaluable and entertaining in the process. And he's also actively involved in a variety of technology selection, strategy and M&A pursuits on behalf of a range of clients from large multinationals to bootstrapped start-ups. Aside from developing Spend Matters and his transactional advisory work, Jason's consulting focus is often around short-term, expert engagements, which often take the form of speaking, training and knowledge transfer. He also oversees all of Azul Partners consulting engagements. Jason's past and current clients include many of the largest software vendors, consultancies, and outsourcing providers as well as a range of Global 2000 companies.

In previous lives before spending five-years at FreeMarkets in a range of corporate development, marketing and line roles, Jason was a management consultant and merchant banking analyst. He’s also been a part-time journalist and columnist throughout most of his academic and professional career and has authored thousands of articles and whitepapers. Jason holds both an MA in history and an undergraduate degree, cum laude, with departmental honors, from the University of Pennsylvania where he majored in English literature and history and completed undergraduate coursework at Wharton.

Jason is married to fellow author and consultant, Lisa Reisman. They have two sons and live in Chicago.
